Fibermesh Topology Problems

I recently started trying to make some locks of fibermesh so that I can render out maps for hair-cards & I ran into some problems with how the fibermesh is generating topology. This is how the geo looks & my settings:

because of this clumping of geo the renders look bad & I can’t groom the hair properly. what causes this?
