March 31, 2022 - 2:32 pmWould like to update a comment I made before. On Free Fusion Hobby version and editing STL's is actually very easy. I found a very nice stl for Ipad Mini holder for my DJI Mini drone. So both are mini… haha. The original design was for a Huawei Tablet and I have IPad Mini 5 that my wife gave me to use with drone app from DJI. When in Fusion insert the Mesh first. Then Get into Mesh mode at top. I needed to cut the holder and add about 28 mm to enlarge the holder. Cut mesh convert mesh to Solid to add the square and then extruded the square piece to fit the holder to extend it. When extruding the square to holder then easy Extrude Join. Then When holder is correct dimension I check I measure, to measure that holder is correct for Ipad Mini 5. Then can go convert back to Mesh, again easy, to do. So now I find best to get the Stl ready for Cura or Prusaslicer, just go export and save it as Obj file. You can also just output direct to Cura and also check preview the stl so you can see that model is ok. Sounds hard, but once you do one it will be easy. I like to save the stl as obj so can use in other programs like blender and use diffrent slicers. Can send it to Meshmixer or Meshlab. When cutting the holder also remember that at the cut Plane it will leave non manifold edges on the cut pieces. Those need to be fixed. Fusion can fix those also. I think in cutting plane adjust setting to close edges. Can't remember . But take time and not hard to figure out.

March 31, 2022 - 2:32 pmWhat to do, when fusion 360 is freezing every time when I try to face group the mesh? I got an i7 11700k, a RTX2070 and 32 GB RAM. It is happening with a simple mesh cylinder…

March 31, 2022 - 2:32 pmNice video, thanks for that! I tried the auto BREP function with a 3D scan, but the Face Group Creation made a pretty bad job. It created thousands of little facets. Not useful!

March 31, 2022 - 2:32 pmThis does not work at all in the free version. It is impossible to do changes to the object. It is hundreds of triangles that seem to be separated from each other.
Are there any tools to do preprocessing to a workable format before importing them into Fusion360?

March 31, 2022 - 2:32 pmFeb 28th 2022, i really like your videos, however this seems to be outdated already as many of the key words and options have changed. All i wanted to do was to take a logo and put a curve on it. which now seems impossible. im at a loss and overly frustrated with fusion 360.

March 31, 2022 - 2:32 pmExcellent thanks ! However, you know a way i could edit the lenght/size of the object (without using scale funciton) ?

March 31, 2022 - 2:32 pmI like your tutorial, but the only thing , can you present you drawing with dimensions before starting your tutorial, thanks.

March 31, 2022 - 2:32 pmWould it be possible to convert a solid body into something you can sculp? Im asking because i made a 3d scan mesh and with the premium organic convert mesh option i converted the mesh to a solid body with very clean surface faces. However i need to edit a few areas as i would do in a sculpt shape but have no way to do this.

March 31, 2022 - 2:32 pmThank you Kevin, I very much appreciate your detailed explanations. I have a paid version and every time, regardless of the methods used I get compute failed or the conversion does not show all of the parts
Is my computer at fault? Perhaps too slow to do the required calculations, I have had it for a few years.
Thank you.

March 31, 2022 - 2:32 pmThe prismatic option seems to only be available in paid versions

March 31, 2022 - 2:32 pmafter converting mesh , it wont let me export the model , and also wont let me repair face groups ? any ideas.

March 31, 2022 - 2:32 pmWish there was a cheaper version to buy for a hobbyist. The prismatic would be nice..

March 31, 2022 - 2:32 pmI followed this process to the letter on the linked imported stl file. I get errors that say that one of the two items (the one that's 'busy' with detail) is defective. I'm not experienced enough to know what the complaint is nor how to fix it. I have a paid subscription.
At the end of the process (conversion to Brep via Prismatic) I get two surface bodies and error that says:
"Not all facegroups of the mesh body could be converted. The generated solid or surface body is not complete. Try a different method for conversion or adjust the face groups to correspond better to geometric features of the mesh."
One of the two surface bodies, the one with little detail can be fixed by "Stitch" and afterwards a solid body is produced.
The other surface body cannot be repaired by any method that I've tried. When I try a "Stitch" it gives me an error that highlights a couple of features in red and in the "Stitch" panel it shows a list that says: "free edge", free Edge", followed by a few lines of what seems to be dimensions that exceed some limit.
(edit) I did get "Stitch" to work on this body but I needed to adjust the slider until what was red turned green. It did then create a body but I can see it distorted the features so there's something wrong with the model to begin with.
Hopefully this can be fixed soon. I wanted to prove my ability to convert an stl file using a known process before I attempt it.

March 31, 2022 - 2:32 pmNot sure if it was always this way, but prismatic is a paid function, and not available to Hobby licenses 🙁

March 31, 2022 - 2:32 pmI got some use out of this video. But doesnt really cover when your working with the free license and working with more complex designs. Fusion wont repair curves and more complex models/shapes. Ill trry to search through your videos for something more usefull.. but if it exists.. ill likely never find it as youtubes channel search is a joke. ugh. Thanks for your effort anyways

March 31, 2022 - 2:32 pmThese programs are all so damn complicated. The industry needs a program that's like paint so you can draw something EASILY…set measurements to the drawing and then convert it to solid or and stl.
With all the existing ones You have to spend 3 hours to build a freaking playing card in most of these programs. Who the hell has the time to learn all this highly technical crap when all they want to do is print a 3d part for something simple. Sorry I'm annoyed because I have fusion360, freecad, opencad, messier, sketchup, tinkercad on my laptop and I can't use any of them to do anything with files I already have and just want to make small changes to…. including cad files and stl files! This is SO DAMN COMPLICATED!

March 31, 2022 - 2:32 pmI cannot press pull my prismatic body. it looks like a shell if i delete a face, so I dont understand how to make it a solid prismatic model. I can extrude faces but not press pull

March 31, 2022 - 2:32 pmExcelent video!! What if one encounter problems with trying to covert mesh to solid, tried different ways, even paid so I could get the "prismatic" option and always end up with errors or missing parts in the model, can I send you my file and maybe you can try and fix it? That way we all learn 😁

March 31, 2022 - 2:32 pmI have latest version of 360 in Personal setup and my Modify menu is very different. Convert mesh is not on there at all and I can't find the function. Curious if this is because i'm on a non commercial license?
